Helmut-Schmidt-Programme (Master Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance)

Helmut-Schmidt-Programme (Master Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance): the DAAD awards funding for preselected Master courses in the law, economics, development and public management fields at certain public German higher education institutions. Target Group: Graduates with a first degree in the above mentioned fields that are not older than 6 years at the time of application. Value of the scholarship: Travel allowance, health insurance for the entire stay in Germany, and a monthly stipend of 850 EUR paid directly to the scholarship holder. Application takes place between June and July of each year with study commencing the following year. The application deadline is usually 31 July each year.

Other scholarships in the DAAD program include:

  1. Development-related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) scholarship programme: the DAAD awards funding for preselected Master courses in development-related fields at certain German Higher Education Institutions. Target group: Graduates with a first degree that is not older than 6 years at the time of application and two years’ post-degree work experience, preferably in the field of the planned Master course. Value of the scholarship: Travel allowance, health insurance for the entire stay in Germany, and a monthly stipend of 850 EUR paid directly to the scholarship holder

  2. Scholarship for Artists and Architects: The DAAD awards funding for Master courses and shorter, complementary postgraduate courses in the Architecture and Arts fields in Germany. Target Group: Graduates with a first degree in Architecture and the Arts that is not older than 6 years. Value of the scholarship: Travel allowance, health insurance for the entire stay in Germany, and a monthly stipend of 850 EUR paid directly to the scholarship holder:

  3. Architects application deadline: 30 September each year

  4. Musicians application deadline: 15 October

  5. Performing arts application deadline: 31 October

  6. Fine Arts, Design, Visual Communication and Film application deadline: 30 November
